Sony has announced that PlayStation Studios will continue to work on hit titles
Sony revamps development plan to target stable profitability
In response to shrinking profits in spite of strong sales of the PS5, Sony announced that it would strengthen the management of development programs and optimize programs to continue to launch popular games.
Declining sales and profits
So far, PS5 global sales have reached 61.70 million units, but the pace of sales is slowing. Sony revealed in its recent earnings report that its third-quarter profit was $10.20 billion, down 25.9% year-on-year.
Lack of masterpieces and declining membership
Sony has yet to release any major exclusives this year, leading to a drop in PlayStation Plus memberships, in part due to dissatisfaction with the library.
The State of Play received a poor response
Sony's recent State of Play event failed to live up to expectations, raising concerns about the unattractiveness of Sony's game lineup.
The uncertainty of the future
It remains to be seen whether Sony can deliver on its pledge to ramp up development while avoiding further job cuts, as the company faces continued demand for high-quality games and increasing pressure from rivals.
Positive signs
Despite the challenges, Sony has still taken some proactive measures, such as testing a text review system in the PS Store to enhance player engagement with the platform.
As Sony continues to adjust its strategy, the company's future performance will be one of the key concerns for the gaming industry.
